Mathematics is my passion. It has been my favourite subject for as long as I can remember. I intend to do maths for the rest of my life. I have a first-class degree in mathematics and am currently studying for my master's. My goal is to do a PhD and become a professor of mathematics.
I have found that sitting maths papers in school was quite fun. I got to sit quietly and do my favourite thing for an hour or so. I hope that my students will feel the same way about maths as I do. I hope to show students the underlying beauty of the subject and give students the ability to understand things intuitively.
Focusing on understanding why something is the way it is, is an integral part of understanding mathematics. Instead of memorising relentlessly, teaching students to know where things come from is a much better way of learning. Additionally, spending a lot of time trying to understand one problem is better than jumping through several practice problems when trying to learn something new. I aim to go into much more detail than perhaps others would because I see the real value in taking your time when it comes to mathematics.
I once had a student with simultaneous equations. Through watching him attempt some equations. I noticed he understood some of the methods but struggled with the calculations.
The student needed a refresher on his algebra. After this, simultaneous equations were not a problem for the student.
