Everything you need to know about the 11+ Exam

A non-compulsory academic selection entrance examination to secondary schools, including grammar schools and fee-paying independent schools*.
Examination process used solely in England, with Northern Irish grammar schools recently adopting the ‘Northern Ireland Transfer Test’ instead.
Tests are usually taken at the beginning of Year 6 in September. However, the majority of independent schools will have their entrance exams in January. Moreover, there is a possibility that pre-selection will take place even earlier, in November.

The SAT is a standardised test used by US colleges and universities to assess a student’s readiness for higher education. It consists of two main sections: Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. Each section is scored out of 800, with a total possible score of 1600. The test measures skills in algebra, problem-solving, reading comprehension, grammar, and writing. While the SAT is not required by all colleges, many US universities use it as part of their admissions process to evaluate academic potential alongside other factors like high school grades and extracurricular activities.
