Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the questions we are often asked. If your question isn't listed, feel free to get in touch!
Who it’s for?
Parents of children with special educational needs (dyslexia, ADHD, autism, SEMH, etc.) looking for personalised support, confidence building, and steady academic progress.
Who are the SEN tutors?
Specialist tutors trained to support diverse SEN needs. All are DBS-checked, safeguarding-trained, and experienced in patient, adaptable teaching.
How do you tailor lessons for SEN?
We start with a personalised taster session and create flexible plans based on your child’s pace and learning style. Lessons prioritise confidence and steady progress over one-size-fits-all approaches.
How much does a tutor cost?
The cost of a tutor at LessonWise varies depending on the tutor's qualifications and experience. We offer different tiers of tutoring to meet various needs and budgets:
- Undergraduate Tutors: £30-£40 per hour. Currently studying their subject at university with at least 2 years of tutoring experience.
- Professional Tutors: £40-£55 per hour. Graduates who are subject experts with at least 5 years of private tutoring experience.
- Qualified Teachers: £55-£70 per hour. Qualified teachers with a PGCE or QTS and several years of classroom and online tutoring experience.
Prices shown are the total cost paid by families. Tutors receive a standardised hourly rate that includes LessonWise’s service fee — covering student/tutor matching, safeguarding, access to our online classroom, and progress tracking tools.
How do I know my child is making progress?
